Nothing new, but there was a link to an interesting article by Thomas Ptacek (

) which puts rainbow tables in perspective and gives a very good introduction to the various techniques that make them useless.
The Opthcrack liveCD looks nice and practical for quickly exploiting physically accessible Windows hosts - too bad that the rainbow table included is restricted to alphanumerical chars.
